Recommendation for Tour Guide in Prague

Three of us will be in Prague early October and are looking to book a private tour with a guide. RS has a number of recommendations. Has anyone used one of these guides and what was the experience like. Any suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

this company does small group tours I am not sure if they do private tours but check their website and contact them. I have met Marcus who is one of the owners of the company, lovely guy and an excellent guide.

this is also a small group guide company but a one man operation and can arrange private tours.
I have know Jason who runs the tours for more than 10 years ,long before he actually gave up his full time job to become a full time guide, really nice guy and an excellent tour guide.99% of his reviews on TA are excellent the other 1% are very good.

We are in Prague and had a private tour yesterday with Tereza through
http://www.praguewalker.com/
She is a local/an art history & tourism major/ studied in London so her English is great. Also a fine sense of humor. We enjoyed our tour.

We chose a tour company mentioned in the RS guide book - Jana@personalpragueguide.com. The owner is Jana Kratka and she arranged our booking with Michaela Vlachova who was very enthusiastic and very personable. We booked a four hour tour with her that did not include the castle. We chose to tour the castle on our own with audio headsets. This worked out great as you would need more that four hours to tour the castle with a tour guide.

Michaela showed us more than the highlights - she pointed out unusual facts about the areas we saw. I had told her we were interested in seeing some bead shops and she took us to an outstanding shop that did not appear in any of the searches I had done. Michaela really knows the city and her English is impeccable.

Note Jana, is also a RS tour guide. She was our guide for RS Best of eastern Europe. She is absolutely wonderful guide, you couldn't go wrong with her . On our RS tour Tereza was as our local guide in Prague, we really liked her. Funny, a little sarcastic and very knowledgeable.

I have not used Jana, but had the pleasure of two days with Nina in Prague :http://www.ninapragueguide.com/about_me.html

She was very knowledgable about current issues in Prague as well as historical facts. She was also very helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations.

Thank you for all of your comments and recommendations. We were very pleased with the tour guide that we booked through Jana Kratka (jana@personalpragueguide.com). Our guide was Michaela Vlachova who personalized the tour to what we were interested in learning about from her and directed us to places we could explore on our own. Her recommendation for dinner was wonderful. You will not go wrong with her.

We used Jana Trousilova (jana@seznam.cz, 420.775.15.00.90) for a walking tour which lasted about four (interesting) hours and included a coffee break at the House of the Back Madonna. The fee was 15 Euro but included the coffee and pastry stop so it was a great value. She really knew her stuff and the time passed very quickly. Almost like being on a walking version of the Hop On bus!
