Punkva Caves transportation

Hi everyone,

We’ll be coming from Prague on our way to Vienna and we decided to stop by Blansko to visit the caves. Buses from Blansko to Skalni Mlyn and back seem to be sparse so I want to make sure there are taxis on each side at all times? Can anyone share their experience/knowledge on the subject?

Hi Laura,

I thought there would be taxi stands on site. Thanks for the info.

The caves are definitely worth visiting but are a bit tricky to get to. Your best bet may be to hire a driver or hire a car in Brno. If you're feeling energetic, then you can hire bikes in Brno and cycle out to the caves (there's a marked cycle path all of the way and it's a very pleasant ride). Bear in mind that the caves can book out, as there is limited capacity for the number of people that they can take in at any one time, therefore it's a good idea to reserve ahead. Also, the car park is a 25-minute walk from the cave mouth, so make sure that you arrive in plenty of time so that you don't miss your slot.

Thank you, Marcus.

So you don’t think there are taxis waiting at the train station in Blansko and in Skalni Mlyn? I’ve reserved our spots to Punkva Caves already, just need to get there 40 minutes in advance.

If I remeber correctly, bus or taxi will bring you to Skalni Mlyn then you either walk or take a tourist train to caves. It is not a real train but it has a locomotive and carriages.
