Does anyone have experience with private car service from Cesky to Vienna or other major cities? We are needing to get from Cesky to Vienna later this month. I believe the train is indirect and not the most scenic. I am aware of a bus service which looks like a good option. But I am intrigued with the idea of hiring a driver, and getting the chance to see some "off the beaten path" corners of Czech Republic on the way. It's a bit pricey though, and so I would only want to do it if I felt it was going to be worth it. I have been to Europe a number of times but typically travel by train - I have very little experience with traveling by automobile. Thanks!
We used Cesky Shuttle for a private car ride from Salzburg to Cesky Krumlov and a few days later from Cesky Krumlov to Prague. They were fantastic. The drivers were willing to take us to off the beaten path places and stopped when we wanted. They are reasonably priced and have a private car from Cesky to Vienna for about 5400 CZK.
Thanks much Mollie - I will look into them and see if they have available cars on my day of travel.
The two most popular shuttle companies are CK Shuttle and Bean Shuttle for this route.
Thank you Emily, I was aware of one of those services but not the other - I will check into that one as well.
Big price difference between a shared shuttle (you plus 1-2 other groups) and a private shuttle (you rent the entire car, can design your own route.) We used shared CK shuttle Vienna to CK and CK to Prague and recommend highly.
Thanks for all the info - at the end of the day we just went with a train trip between Cesky and Vienna. For about $75 each, we made a comfortable trip. I think the car shuttle could have been interesting, but we love the ability to get up and walk around, buy snacks, etc. on a train trip. It look about 4.5 hours from Cesky to Vienna by rail via Cesky Velenice.
