Prague with a teen and tween recommendations please

We (4 of us- 12 and almost 15 year old) will have 3 full days in Prague in mid-May (yay!) One day we are going to Terezin. The other 2 days we will spend walking around Old Town, Castle quarter, Jewish Quarter, Charles Bridge, etc. Nothing concrete planned, probably will play it by ear. I have the RS Prague book and I have liked his walking tours in the past, so we may try those. Also considering an actual walking tour (free or not, I'm ok with either).
When we went to Italy last summer, the kids were amazing travelers, as long as we kept them fed-pizza and gelato were amazing motivators! I am wondering if anyone has ideas/suggestions for treats like this in Prague that we can look forward to. And if anyone has restaurants that would be good for kids (my youngest can be a bit picky), I'd love to hear it. Oh-and anything else in Prague that is a must-see for kids in this age group. In Rome, our favorites were the Colosseum/Forum and Borghese, and the piazzas/fountains (esp Trevi), so anything like that would be great. I'm sure I have most of the big ones covered but maybe there is something amazing I have not seen yet. Thank you!

Edited to add: I know I asked about Prague previously and I do remember the suggestions from Unclegus and others-I was mainly looking for more kid-centric ideas here.

if you are doing a castle tour in Golden lane is an armoury museum but the best bit is a chance to use and old fashioned crossbow, sure the kids would love that.Petrin tower (Looks like a small Eiffiel tower) is fun to climb and there is a mirror maze there too.

My daughter & I have been going to Prague for 6 years and she's 14 now. We teach at an English camp but we always fly in to Prague. We've always entertained ourselves by people watching near Old Town Square and the Clock Tower. At the end of the trip if we have cash left, a horse drawn carriage ride was fun around the Old Town. On Saturdays, there is a great farmer's market - there are several - but the one we went to was just down from St. Charles Bridge. There are some paddle boats down there too and an island to paddle to. You've got to do the Castle too and I agree with the above suggestion of the Petřín Lookout Tower. It was fantastic!! And, lots to see and explore on the walk there and back down. Spend the extra few dollars and walk to the top of the tower.

We also went on a private tour, with some others, to Terezin and it was very moving. Last year, we took a day trip to Kutna Hora - a silver mining town which was an hour or two out of Prague and that was very interesting.

Most restaurants have a variety of food unless they're the touristy, Czech only food places. You'll find ample opportunities for pizza, pasta, hamburgers, chicken, fried cheese, etc. There are some wonderful beer gardens that have soft drinks and good grilled food too - the one we've gone to is up from the train station, Riegrovy Sady -

If your kids like music, take in one of the many concerts in the many churches in Prague. They usually run $20 - 25 each and you can easily get tickets right before the show.

Enjoy!

I definitely want to do this!

Good info!

We have booked the Terezin private tour for day 2, and I just booked a private walking tour with Unclegus' friend Jason (Living Prague Tours) for our first day to get us oriented to the city-I am so excited!

There is a beautiful library to see to but maybe Ilja or Unclegus will comment where that might be. I've seen pictures and it's stunning. I'm sure your kids would be quite moved by the Jewish Ghetto, the museum and the cemetery there. Go through the museum - it is powerful. And, they have children's drawings from their school they would hold while in the Ghetto. It is worth the time!

There is also another beer garden on the castle side near the river and St. Charles Bridge but I haven't been there but perhaps someone else could give directions. I haven't been to any of the museums but those might be great and maybe others can comment. They've been closed some of the times when we are in Prague.

Sounds like you will have a terrific trip!

Two libraries in Prague compete for the title of the most beautiful library. Klementinum and Strahov Library. Which one do you mean, Dana?

Ilja - I do not know but I've seen pictures of a giant stack of books that's artistically presented. I need to broaden what I see in Prague this summer b/c I always take a new group of folks and take them to see what I've already seen :)
