We will be traveling from Prague Main Train Station to Nuremberg using our DB Bahn Twin Train Pass. DB Bahn runs an IC Bus from Prague. Is a reservation required, or can we just walk up and board the next departing bus? Thanks in advance.
The German Twin pass does not fully cover the bus from Prague.
- If you only have a German Pass, you'll pay 20 euros per person for the "passholder ticket/reservation."
- If you also have the German Pass Extension, then you just pay the 4 euro seat reservation fee.
- You have to buy these at Prague station or a German station, no deadline to do so, but a bus could fill up.
- Without using a pass, full fare for the bus ticket is 53.20, including reservation.
With sufficient advance purchase online from the Bahn, the fare for that bus from Prague to Nürnberg is as low as 19€/per (no railpass required), but it is bus (date and time) specific and non-refundable.
There is also a train, with one dedicated connection in Schwandorf, that takes about an hour longer. A Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket for two, for 30,50€, purchased from the Bahn Shop, plus Czech Rail tickets from Prague to Pilsen at 100 Kc/adult (about 3,60€), will cover the entire trip.
There is also a 5€ surcharge to purchase Savings Fare tickets with "personal service", ie, at the counter.
