Prague to Munich Flights

I'm surprised about the lack for direct flights to Munich from Prague. Only a handful of flights each day and mainly just Lufthansa. I thought this was a popular route.

Are there different airports I should be looking at. At the moment I'm using PRG and MUC.

What is surprising about that? The route is there so that Lufthansa can sell connecting tickets to/from Prague via Munich.

Those who just want to travel from Prague to Munich or v.v. generally take the train or coach.

Oh is it, train is 5.5 hours but flight is only 1 hour (+2.5 hours for airport overhead) so 3.5 hours.

Is bus a popular option? Is that a better option than train? Faster?

The popular route is the train from Munich to Prague. About ten years ago, there was better another option, the DB night train Munich to Prague, dep, around 23;30.

You don't have to stay in Munich to catch a train to Prague, take the train Munich to Nuremberg, transfer to Prague, more choices.

Thanks but can only do Prague to Munich direction. Going to Switzerland from Munich so can’t do the reverse.

This comparison of travel times is a little unrealistic. You don't want to miss your flight, so you will leave the center of Prague at least 2 hours before departure. One hour flight, 1.5 hours
from landing to the center of Munich. That's about the travel time of the bus and only one hour faster than the train, but much less comfortable.

However, there are currently not many buses between Munich and Prague. But from June 3 RegioJet will resume its two daily services (9:30 and 16:30), so that, together with Flixbusses, there will be a travel option approximately every hour. For details, cf. busradar.com (time tables
for 3 months out).
