We are planning on flying into Prague and staying there a few days, then picking up a car and traveling to Heidelberg Germany to meet some friends for a few days and then driving to Austria. Any recommendations on towns we should stop and stay in? We will have the car another 10 days and trying to plan a driving trip before returning to Prague and flying home. Thank you!
Well if this is the Heidelberg close to Mannheim then you'd probably look at stopping in Plzen in CZ, Nurnberg and Schwabisch Hall in Germany. Then from Heidelberg go directly south into Austria via Bregenz. Loads of options here depending on where you plan to stay overnight.
Thanks Jason. I’ll go buy a map to chart out a driving plan. Would you say 3 days is good in Prague?
Well 3 nights is the average stay here and first time visitors will normally spend a half day in the Jewish Quarter and possibly a half day at the Castle (depends on your architectural interests). If you're here on a Saturday then you'll find markets and food festivals so that's another half day or more. Museums, galleries, towers and exhibitions during the day. Concerts, cruises and scenic dining in the evening and that pretty much loads up your stay. Have fun.
