Would much appreciate any info re how best /easiest to get from Prague to Frantiskovy Lazne (frmrly Francensbad) and a nice but not break the bank hotel there for a night or 2. (Pls don;t suggest rental car; I want to stay married :-)

The best connection is by Pendolino train leaving Prague Main Train Station (Praha hlavni nadrazi) at 10:37, arriving at Frantiskovy Lazne at 13:23. It's the fastest and direct. Cost: 346 czk = $13.70. For details or other connections check: http://www.idos.cz
You can switch it to English.
I did not stay in hotel in F.L. so cannot recommend from personal experience but there is a wide selection of about 70 hotels in F.L. on google.

And the Pendolino (Super Cities) train is very nice. 2nd class is like 1st class on German trains. Meals served at your seat and a lively bar car. After you get out of Prague, hotels are much less expensive. Start looking at booking.com to get an idea.

Yes, Franzenbad, Karlsbad, Marienbad ("Last year at Marienbad"., the noted French film) ...famous places in Bohemia where European royalty went to take the waters prior to 1914 and to catch up on the latest gossip.
