I loved the suggestion about the restrooms in the Municipal House and how "you won't this find in a guide book" -- thank you. It is exactly what I am looking for as we are meeting our son in Prague for his last week of an nine month solo around the world trip (as part of a fellowship) in non western countries. Even though this has been a once in a lifetime experience, he has just about had his fill of museums, palaces, castles and churches. If anyone has any unusual, interesting and even bizarre recommendations I would appreciate it.
I also want to thank everyone who contributes to this blog. Between the RS guidebooks and information gleamed here this will be our fifth trip to Europe traveling "low to the ground" and loving every minute (well almost every minute ...there was the meltdown in the Coimbra bus station).

This is a new [pub in the Branik district of Prague,It is an old Monastery and is almost derelict. There is a project to turn it into a hotel/resturaunt /bar/ micro-brewery/exhibition place .Project is being organised by 3 Czechs ,2 Australians and 2 Americans, very much a work in progress. At the moment the micro-brewery is working and they have porto cabins for a main bar and toilets, the courtyard area has some table outside and tented areas for shade/cover.
I was there last week and have been there a few months ago, a complete building site but they are producing some of the best beer in the city if not the country,it is brilliant.Something a bit different from your run of the mill bars. if you want details of how to get there just let me know.it is about 20 minutes by tram from the city centre and a 5 minute walk.
How about going to a football (soccer) match, very cheap in Prague, I was at the Viktoria Zizkov game a week past sunday.Main teams in the city are
Sparta Prague
Dukla Prague (my main team)
Slavia Prague
Bohemians
(all first division)
Viktoria Zizkov (second divison)
Game times vary Friday evenings ,saturdays at various times Sundays and sometime Monday evenings.

TRAM DICE !
should have mentioned this earlier and I am sure I have mentioned this on other Prague Threads.
real simple.
Take 2 dice roll them, odds go in one direction ,evens the other .You must take the first tram that comes
Once on the tram roll the dice again and go that number of stops or to the end of the line.
Find nearest bar and have a beer.
Start again.
continue until you are completely lost and or drunk then take nearest tram back to civilisation.
day ticket for transport system 110kc, about 4 dollars
Perfect! Unfortunately there is not a soccer game while we are there (August 30-sept 5), but when the crowds get to be too much we will head to Branik and find the pub and defiantly place tram dice.
Must be an international weekend and that is why there are no games on, Pity, bit do try tram dice, grat way of seeing the city.I would also suggest if you do like a beer in the open air is to go to Letna beer garden or Riegrovy sady beer garden. Letna has great views over the city and Riegrovy has a great choice of beers as well as a big screen TV for live sports and sometimes have live bands on .

If you fancy a glass of wine and the weather is nice try this place.

about a 10 minute walk from Namesti Miru metro station (along the street Americka). Lovely place and you can drink the wine from the grapes grown right where you sit.
