Prague on St. Wenceslas Day?

Hello,

I will be visiting Prague from September 26th-29th, and while researching the trip noticed that St. Wenceslas Day is September 28th.. Unfortunately i couldn't pick different travel dates to avoid this holiday. My question is what will be open and what will be closed? Are most restaurants and sightseeing places closed? I'm staying at the Hotel Hotel U Medvidku, which im told is in a good location. Im just worried that there may be some important sights, like the castle or cathedral that may be closed. I do have Rick Steve's book for Prague, and i dont see much about this day or if sights are closed.

Any info is appreciated

The websites of the individual museums, etc., should show the days they are closed as well as the hours of operation. The Jewish sites are usually closed on Saturdays (that will be Sep. 29); I have no idea whether the holiday will have any impact.

Prague is an extremely touristy city; I suspect you will be able to find some things open on the holiday.

I don't think you will notice a great deal of difference, you may find offices closed and a reduced service on public transport (probably a Sunday service which is still excellent) but the trams that run will have the national flag on them.
U Medvidku is a good area to stay easy to get to Wenseslas Square and all parts of the old town by foot and close to the tram stop to get up to the castle area, also close to metro if you need to use it.

To be honest there will be more places closed on a regular Monday than a state holiday. Just think of it like "Sunday service" i.e. state institutions closed and maybe independent businesses have reduced hours or are closed to take advantage of a long weekend. Other than that, if you stay in the Prague 1 area you won't even notice it's a holiday. The only place where you might see a difference is at Prague Castle where ST Vitus will have a service (remember it's ST Vitus, ST Adalbert and ST Wenceslas). The big one will be October 28th this year.
