Greetings, everyone. I will make a solo trip to Prague Oct 8-15. It is my first solo trip in a few years and my first trip to the Czech Republic. My interests are history, architecture, nature, and music.
First, if anyone will be in Prague during that time and would like to meet for coffee, a meal, or an activity, feel free to post on this thread or send me a private message.
Second, here is what I have thus far in terms of an itinerary:
Wed Oct 8: Arrive 9 am at airport after overnight flight from US, Drop bag at hotel, Wander on my own from Old Town Square to Wenceslas Square to Castle using Rick Steves walks combined with some Honest Guide stops (33 sites, coffee shops, bookstores on my list of things to visit! We'll see how much I accomplish)
Thurs Oct 9: Communism Museum (on recommendation of forum member rob in cal), Mucha Museums, Municipal House Tour, dinner at Municipal House Restaurant, Prague Symphony Orchestra performance in Smetana Hall
Fri Oct 10: Operation Anthropoid Tour (Lidice & Prague sites), Taste of Prague Foodie Tour (traditional + modern Czech food)
Sat Oct 11: Two-hour Trabant drive with visit to Stahov Monastery (offered at a reduced price by my Anthropoid tour guide), Alternative Prague Tour (group tour)
Sun Oct 12: Church, Prague Food Tour's Delicious Food Tour (traditional Czech food)
Mon Oct 13: Museum of Alchemy, Old Town & Jewish Quarter Tour + Prague Architecture Tour with Living Prague Tours, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra at Rudolfinum
Tues Oct 14: Day Trip to Bohemian Switzerland and Saxon Switzerland
Wed Oct 15: Konopiště Castle on my own (former home of Austria's Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand), Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia at The National Theater
Thurs Oct 16: Early flight to out of Prague's airport to return to US
I hope to make it to one of the art house cinemas like Edison FilmHub; Kino Lucerna would be a great place to see a film, too. I would like to see a jazz performance at a jazz club and perhaps a more modern/mainstream performance at a different kind of music venue. I plan to fill in the holes with a lot of walking and visits to parks. Should be a good trip!
Itinerary is filling up, but I am open to any suggestions...
