Prague New Years day walk ..... an Invitation to join me.

I am in Prague over the New year with a friend from my walking group. we will be doing a clear the cobwebs type walk on New years day and invite anyone who fancies a pleasant stroll to join us.

Leaving from Hradcanska Metro stop at 12 noon (meeting point outside Dejvicka Sokolovna bar) we will walk from there to Stromovka park and through the park over the river ( little ferry) to Troja chateau and the Zoo, bus can be got back from the zoo to the city.Total walking time will be around 90 minutes and it is very easy walking on pavements and good paths , no hills at all though a couple of very gentle slopes . If places are open we may be able to stop for refreshment.

I will make sure anyone on the walk will get back to the city centre at the end of the walk. We want to be back in the city centre in plenty of time for the New years day fireworks . I have had over 45 years experience of organising and leading walks and well over 20 years experience of visiting Prague. No fees whatsoever just a group of friends enjoying a stroll.

If you want to join us just let me know. no special footwear needed just sensible comfortable shoes for walking in and wrap up warm. make sure you also have some Public transport tickets to get back into the city.

It will be nice walk especially if weather cooperates - by that I mean that it is not raining. Unclegus, I always miss you in Prague by few days or weeks. It would be interesting to meet you and Marcus who know so much about the capital of my native country.

Ilja, hopefully the weather will be good, cold but nice. the footbridge over the river to Troja collapsed a few weeks ago and they have a replacement ferry running to get folk back and forward,it is an area I often walk in when I am in the city and hopefully some visitors to the city might get to see an area of it that they would not go and see on their own.

That is very generous and sounds like loads of fun. If I were anywhere near I would join you but unfortunately sent my passport in for renewal a few days ago and have seen no sign of its return.

Have a wonderful day.

Happy Christmas as well....

First Footing in Prague. That's a new one.....

It's enough to make one book a ticket to Prague for New Year's Day! I'm sure it would be a real treat!!

first time I have been in Prague for New year but have spent New year in Germany a couple of times (used to be engaged to a German girl) and 8 years ago spent new year camping in the desert of Kuwait, that was to say the least a bit different.

Oh, Unclegus, what a generous invitation and I would love nothing better than to join you in Prague. I do love that beautiful city; just visited again last August. Alas, I will be home for the beginning of 2018.....
