Now it's time to go.

It has always been a relatively chaep place for us Brits at the moment I can get around 36kc to the £,last November when I visited it was only 33/£ and a year or so ago under 30/£,2 years ago it was as low as 25kc/£. however I do remember when first visiting the Czech republic over 20 years ago you were getting around 60kc/£, that's was when it was really cheap.
But still more expensive than Istanbul or Budapest.
This is great to read! Heading there in July!
Very good to know. Between the two I'll take Prague over Istanbul.
Fred, we drove across Bulgaria and into Istanbul last June. Istanbul is a magical place; but there are few places I was happier to leave. Glad I went, it was an education, but ............... naaaaaaa. Prague on the other hand was very, very good. Actually all of the Czech Republic was very, very good. That's a country where getting out of the city really has its rewards..
Wow, you're not kidding. In May 2011 when we were in Prague, the exchange rate was 16 Koruna to the dollar, now it's 25. That's 56% more in Czech currency for a dollar.Of course we managed to travel at the low point of the dollar over the last five years vs. the Koruna, according to oanda.com, which is a great site for following these things.
And the Forint has gone from 170 to 280 to the dollar and the euro has gone from .80 to .94 to the dollar. Great time to travel.
We will be in Prague in 2 days then traveling on to Vienna and Budapest and we (2 couples) view this as GREAT news!
After traveling to Italy & Amsterdam the last few years when the Euro was costing in high $1.30s and touching $1.40, a welcome relief indeed 😊
