Prague for 2 weeks!

I was in Prague for the first time in June and loved it so much I will be going back in early October for 2 weeks.
I toured the Castle, Charles bridge and Jewish quarter. Now that I can take more time, what other
areas of Prague should I explore? Unclegus and others seem to have a lot of experience in Prague and maybe they have some tips for me. The only scheduled event I have so far is a food tasting walking tour.
I love to eat but am not into fancy restaurants. I have read several post of recommended places. Also, I am traveling by myself.
Thanks for any insights you may have.

The monastery close to Prague castle is worth some time, and from there you can walk through a park to a replica of the Eiffel tower for great views of the city.

I was there a few weeks ago spent the morning there then took the bus from there to Velke Popovice to the Kozel brewery where we had lunch and spent a small fortune in the Brewery shop, did not do a tour as I have done it many times before, easy to get bus back to Prague.
if you know the works of Josef Lada (the illustrator of the Svejk books and many children's books) you can go and visit his museum .

you can even go for lunch in the Bar that was the inspiration for his most famous painting the Bar Brawl.

If you are interested, consider a day trip to Terezin with Pavel Batel of Terezin Private tours (http://terezin-private-tours.com). Make sure you sign up for Pavel as a guide, as he is exceptional -- I cannot vouch for anyone else in the company. His tour groups are capped at 8; we had a total of 5 on our tour. He will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. This was definitely a highlight of our trip this past June!

Hi, I am from Prague. Do tour the Municipal House - it is a marvelous example of Art Nouveau. Just walk in and register yourself for the next English tour. Right in the House is a lovely venerable cafe.
The Alfons Mucha Museum is a must too. Both places are quite close to each other.
For restaurants, I have always loved "U Modre Kachnicky," which is as Czech as it gets. The best cakes are in Ovocny Svetozor, right off Wenceslas Square. Try the hot raspberries with ice-cream, my favorite, but everything there is to die for.

I agree about the Museum of Communism, but note that it moved recently and will probably be mislocated on printed maps. It was around the corner from where I expected it to be and has a fairly subtle sign. I think it's next to a small supermarket.

Obecni Dum (Municipal House) is a magnificent building with a wonderful Art Nouveau interior. To see most of it you need to take a tour, offered frequently in English. I believe those do sometimes sell out. It's an extra 55 koruna to take photos, which will be worthwhile if you have any interest in photographing interiors. Part of Mucha's Slav Epic is on display in the building (separate ticket); I think the building tour is more worthwhile for the average visitor. People who love art and have no interest in architecture or decorative arts would probably have the opposite reaction.

The Mucha Museum is great if you like Art Nouveau paintings and graphics. If you know you do not, you can skip it.

There's a new museum of contemporary glass (at which the Czechs are masters) in the Portheimka Villa. It has 90+ pieces in the permanent display, plus a small special exhibition; it doesn't take long to see. http://www.museumportheimka.cz/introduction/

The Cubism Museum in the House at the Black Madonna is worthwhile for those with an interest in decorative arts of that period.

Museum of Medieval Art / Convent of St. Agnes has a very strong collection. This period is definitely not a favorite of mine, but the explanatory material was unusually good, which made a big difference.

The Trade Fair Palace is where contemporary art lives.

The last two are part of the National Gallery, along with several other buildings. There's a combo ticket, but it probably won't pay off unless you make a point of getting to all the museums, and even then it may be borderline. The combo ticket doesn't cover special exhibitions, and one of the museums I went to had no permanent exhibition on display, so the ticket got me nothing there.

Keep your eyes open for flyers about current temporary exhibitions at the mamy museums in the city. There are likely to be at least one or two that will interest you.

Two weeks is plenty of time to explore Prague. Take a train to Vysehrad. It was a surprisingly pleasant and interesting place to visit. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the views as well.

Take time to get out of the city to see the stunningly beautiful countryside with rolling wheat fields, forests, and castle turrets in the distance! I recommend Konopiste, Karlstein, and Sternberk castles - the latter is the only one in the CR (according to them) still owned by the original family. The aristocrat owner offered to stay on as the caretaker and, when communism ended, he took possession again. His grandson is now the owner. We were the only ones on our tour and it it very much still a family home.
I also recommend a visit to Karlovy Vary - beautiful spa town.
We enjoyed the views from the restaurant at the top of the Zizkov TV tower...excellent food and great vistas!
When we were in the area for a month we lived in a tiny town just outside of Prague called Jilove u Prahy - it is nothing spectacular but it is a very REAL Czech town with a beautiful square, a FANTASTIC restaurant (Restaurace Florian), and a small museum of the area. If you want to get out of the city and see a slice of Czech life consider visiting.

Thanks to all of you with your recommendations! I am filling my calendar and getting more excited each day.
If there are any other restaurant recommendations (not too fancy) I would appreciate the advice.
Again, I appreciate all the suggestions!

We loved Cisty Stul so much we ate there twice in four days. We went for an early dinner before it got crowded. Cozy atmosphere, great food, friendly and helpful service.

If you go to Mucha Museum, ask for the guide Marketa from the company Prague Cool Guide ( https://www.prague-cool-guide.com/ ). She knows everything about Mucha. I loved the Museum of Sense. I recommend the restaurant Kuchyne, this is an experience. I totally agree with the Museum of Communism, it is now in another place, close to the Masarykovo Nadrazi. Jazzboat is a perfect option as well. Vyšehrad and its Gorlice are amazing. Troja chateau could be useful <3
