Prague City Council votes to ban Segways from the Historical Reserve

News just in:

The City Council has just voted to ban segways from the entirety of the Prague Historical Reserve. We expect the ban to be implemented on, or before, 30 June 2016. If you have booked a segway tour of Prague, it would be advisable to contact your tour operator. Segways are still allowed in the major parks, and in the outskirts of the city. You can find more information here.

well no surprise they were going to be banned ,as far as I am concerned they have been a menace for years . The number of Segways seems to have really increased over the last few years and it is hard to avoid them .In April I was just about hit from behind on the pavement on Narodni.

A woman on a Segway collided with a tram yesterday. She was severely injured, and the incident caused a huge disruption to the tram service (aka annoyed the locals). Thankfully, however, she will live to tell the tale. The timing was fortuitous, as the motion had already been tabled for discussion today. It would appear though that the accident did not help the segways' case, and perhaps may have been the final nail in their coffin. They shall not be missed.
