Prague Castle tickets

I’d like to make sure I am understanding the translated website correctly and I’m purchasing the correct castle entrance ticket. I’m on the hrad.cz website. I purchase the full ticket for 250 CZK if I’d like to have access to all of the buildings, correct? Also, there is not a specific date I’m reserving entry for but can enter on any date? Did you select email receipt of tickets or pick them up at the Ticket Portal offices?

If you’ve been to the castle complex, what time did you arrive to get into the security line so you’d beat the crowds that start to form?

Thank you for your help.

The full ticket gives you access to all buildings but not the cathedral tower. You need a separate ticket 150 CZK for that.

We have been to Prague Castle twice (March and September) and both times we arrived about 10:00am and the line was very short - maybe 5 minutes to get in. We have started at the top entrance - tram 22 to Prazsky Hrad - and then worked our way back down towards the river. The only part that was crowded was the Golden Mile section.

Both times we bought our tickets on the day at the castle information centre.

Since Prague Castle started using Ticketportal for it's Historic Buildings Circuit B ticket it's been a bit of a nightmare. Basically you have two choices: 1) You physically print your tickets at home before you travel or 2) you pick up your tickets in Prague at a Ticketportal hub. Guess what? Prague Castle is NOT a Ticketportal hub so you basically have to go to the city offices of a betting shop called Tip Sport to get your tickets. Another option for self guiding is to include the Lobkowicz palace. Do an internet search for "Prague Castle plus Lobkowicz Palace" and you'll find a link. That option is more expensive but you avoid the hassle if you cannot print tickets and it includes your only chance to visit the interior of one of the Castle's Baroque palaces (with audioguide). This ticket is valid only for one day.
