Prague Castle Crown Jewels

I'm starting to get down to the finer details for my week in Prague this fall. I notice the crown jewels will be on display at the Prague Castle again this year and presumably due to this, the usual "Main Circuit" tickets are not available on the website to purchase for late September. I don't believe I'm simply too early since October tickets are available.

Is there anyone here that went last year during this time that knows the process? If I'm not mistaken, entrance to the crown jewels themselves will be free, but can a "Main Circuit" ticket still be purchased in person on the day? Or perhaps a few days in advance? If needed, I could go in person when I arrive to buy a ticket for later in the week, for example.

Under normal circumstances, Rick recommends getting there early and leaving the hotel "no later than 8:00". Unless I hear otherwise, I will plan to do this, but any information or tips on these special circumstances would be appreciated.

I think this is just a ticket system issue. Currently the latest date is September 7th but the Crown Jewels isn't until the 18th so I would have expected the calendar to run up to that point if this was the case. You can still buy the Main Ticket but you can't use it if there are restrictions i.e. during the Crown Jewels exhibition you can still go to ST Vitus, ST George Basilica and Golden Lane but not the Old Royal Palace. If you arrive in Prague you can go to the ticket office and buy tickets for later in the week and they'll tell you that you can't use it to enter the Old Royal Palace. For the Crown Jewels as you mentioned, you queue.

The response from the Castle for my query why the dates 8th-30th September are not available (even though the website clearly says the exhibition is from 18th-29th so they must need 10 days to set it up):

Dear Jason,
thank you for reaching out to us.
The Old Royal Palace is excluded from the Main Circuit from 8th September till 1st October due to an exhibition. As a result, the online version of the tickets is unavailable.

However, you don’t need to worry. Tickets for Prague Castle (in these dates, excluding Old Royal Palace) can be purchased directly at our information centres located within Prague Castle. You will be able to buy them easily on the day of your visit. The process is quick and no advance reservation is required.

Old Royal Palace will be possible to visit too, I am attaching the link to the exhibition: Bohemian Crown Jewels: Treasure in the Darkness - Culture at the Castle https://www.hrad.cz/en/culture-at-the-castle/program/bohemian-crown-jewels-treasure-in-the-darkness-13379

Excellent info! Thanks a lot Jason... that clears that up. And no big deal for me, that's just one less ticket I have to buy in advance.
