Prague Botanical Gardens

Hi Gang. We leave for Prague next week (doing Rick's Central Europe Tour) and are gardeners. We always stay up the day of arrival and thus make sure we are doing plenty of walking. We are considering going to the Prague Botanical Gardens that afternoon and wanted to know if anyone has been there and if so your impressions.

Thanks,
Don

After seeing the magnificent Wallenstein Palace Gardens below Prague Castle, and the gardens surrounding the castle itself, we ran out of time for Prague’s Botanical Garden. Wallenstein Palace today is where the Czech Senate meets, and the gardens are amazing. The best gardens at Prague Castle are along the southern perimeter of the castle grounds.
Have fun in Prague!

Great place, especially for education and as gardeners you'll appreciate this place more than the "show" gardens. It's just a bit of a drag getting there i.e. it's usually either bus or taxi. But if you go just head for the zoo and walk back up the hill. The botanical gardens are structured into different parts so plan your route. There's a map at https://www.botanicka.cz/en/for-visitors/our-expositions/venkovni-expozice. In May it's still going to be very green. If you do the Botanical Gardens then after, take a stroll down the hill and visit the Troja Gardens. Then if you really want to go for it then take the bridge across the river and walk through Stromovka Park back to the tramline which will get you back to the centre.
