hi, will be 2 of us, arriving in Prague, need taxi to Old Town area, what is the standard rate?
It looks like some hotels have shuttles to airport for fee also
i did some research on a company called Prague Airport Transfers- they want to charge for private car to Old Town from Airport- 590czk which is about 26 us dollars total.
anyone use this company? seems like a legit place
Why not Bus 119 to the A metro and then the Metro in to most convenient station? Costs 26 Czk for a ticket good for 90 minutes (about $1.25), runs every 6 minutes. Or the Airport Express bus, 60Czk, about $2.75, direct to the Main Train Station if that allows a convenient way to your lodging.
is there a specific taxi company we should look for while at the airport? what is the safest most reliable taxi company to use? Dont want to get ripped off
If you go to downtown buy your ticket for taxi inside the terminal. It is a fixed price. You don't pay anything to the cab driver. That's what I do with a heavy luggage. Otherwise public transport. If you need a cab elsewhere in Prague call AAA. There are few more reliable and honest companies and many more which are not.
Hi,
A cab, why didn't I think of that? I always try to use local mass transit, and get the 90 minute ticket 32 Crowns. But 119 stops at several places at the airport to pick up people. It is built for travelers going to and from the airport so luggage is expected. Then the bus 119 heads non-stop to where it terminates, at Nadrazi Veleslavin and it then turns around to head back to the airport. From there the Metro A (subway) can take you into town. Or from this same terminal point for bus 119 you can hop onto Tram 26 and ride to the main train station (Hlavni Nadrazi, abbreviated Hl. n.). Or as someone said, Bus AE from the airport to the Train station. Or the comfort of the cab, but you pay extra for that.
My wife and I are headed to Prague Sept 9. I will take either 119-26 or the AE.
