Is there an overnight train from Prague to Zurich? I see the opposite but am having a hard time finding info going from East to West.
From what I can find, I see options with 1-3 connections. Travel time 13+ hrs
You really want to do that?
A flight is 90 minutes
To be sure you're OK with what you'd be setting yourself up for, go to https://int.bahn.de/en/, find a possible departure, click on details, then on the number of stops. It's not just train changes you need to consider, but also how many times the train will come to a halt in a station (with noise) and then accelerate away. It's not a steady, rhythmic clickety-clack for 8 hours.
i looked at the Cesky Drahy website (I use it a lot) and like joe32F i can see a couple of journeys overnight that have 2-3 changes and journey times of 14-16 hours. there are trips during the day of about 10-11 hours with a change at Munich.when are you travelling as some of the websoite only show journeys 60 days in advance. For that sort of Journey I would fly probably works out cheaper.
been having a quick look and there are overnight buses run by Regiojet ,direct that are quicker than the train.
There is a night train operated by Czech Railways called "Canopus" (EN 40458), which departs from Prague daily at 6:25 p.m. and arrives in Zurich at 9:05 a.m. However, it makes 12 stops along the way (including Dresden, Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Basel), so it’s probably not ideal for light sleepers. The easiest way to book it is through Czech Railways (www.cz.de).
Thank you so much for all your help and information. We've decided to rearrange our travel to avoid the overnight train and we're taking the scenic train from Salzburg to Zurich instead.
