Biking Loop - Litovel, Sternberk, Unicov
Ceska Trebova & Litomysl
Kromeriz
Brno (is one day too short)

Will you have a car? Otherwise Stramberk, Novy Jicin and Roznov are far for a day trip. Stramberk and Roznov are pretty touristy towns. Litovel, Sternberk, Unicov are non touristy towns. It is a lot for one day bicycle tour. If they do not have bicycle trails I would not do it on highway. Heavy traffic. Litomysl is a pretty town worth seeing. Ceska Trebova is an important railroad crossing but nothing will happen if you skip it. But Litomysl by public transport is not good for a day trip from Olomouc. Kromeriz is a good destination for a day trip. I will add Karlova Studanka - Mountain resort and spa. Beautiful architecture and mountains suroundings. Easy to do as a bus trip.

Thanks for the reply. No we aren't planning on having a car.

  1. Olomouc to Novy Jicin is 45 minutes by bus, Stramberk 20 minutes by taxi
  2. Olomouc to Ceska Trebova is 50 minutes by train, and Litomysl 10 minutes by taxi

These sound like very easy day trips with only an hour of travel each way, am I missing something? I checked train/bus schedules and they run all the time

Does Uber work in smaller towns in CZ?
Can you put bikes on the train anywhere?

If you're into the history at all in Olomouc, check out the fortress, Festung Olmütz. . It was where Lafayette was held after being captured by the Austrians. The US government tried to secure his release but to no avail. It was Napoleon who finally got him out. On the eve of the Austerlitz battle (Slavkov today), Olmütz was the Allies, ie Russian Army HQ.

I vote for Brno from the above list, see the chateau, Schloss Austerlitz, ca 30 min walk from the train station into the Zentrum. The Napoleon Exhibition is featured there, took me a bit over one hour to get through it, a comprehensive and balanced treatment.
