No AC in room during March. Freezing cold?

Hi all. Will be in Prague in early March for 4 days. One of the places I'm looking to stay at says they don't have AC. Does that mean it will get very cold in the room? Or is there some sort of heating? The historical temperature in March ranges from 1 to 12 Celsius. Is it advisable to make my booking?

Thanks in advance.

AC likely means "air conditioning" for cooling. The hotel is likely using steam for heating. And you could even have a heated towel rack.

I think it's assumed that any lodging you book will have a heating system. AC is sometimes provided by the heating system (mini-splits) but often it is just a heating system.

I just imagined the looks on their faces when you asked for A/C for a March booking... ;-)

BTW, you do get hotel rooms "heated" by A/C in some parts of Southern Europe in winter, and believe me, you don't want that kind of a "heating" system.

Ha! AC in Prague in March. I guarantee you, you won't be turning it on in March. Some hotels in Prague have AC some don't. There were times when AC was not needed, not even in July and August. But now with global warming that's not true anymore. Nowadays it's quite more important to know if the place has AC. (Although not in March). Heating is not advertised. All places have it. It has been always needed. Usually October through May.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_conditioning

In the most general sense, air conditioning can refer to any form of
technology that modifies the condition of air (heating, cooling,
(de-)humidification, cleaning, ventilation, or air movement). In
common usage, though, "air conditioning" refers to systems which cool
air.
In construction, a complete system of heating, ventilation, and
air conditioning is referred to as heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning (HVAC – as opposed to AC).

Thanks all for your replies. The hotel volunteered the no AC info. and I wasn't sure why they highlighted that even though it is winter In March. Now I think it is just a matter of the hotel using a standard reply template.

We feel much more assured now with all your replies. That there will be heating.

I used to stay in Japan, where there's no central heating and some folks use AC (or HVAC) for heating. Hence, I thought it might be that way with Prague. Glad it is not!

Yeah, that info does seem a bit weird, and I can understand your feeling unsure what this is supposed to mean. And you are probably right in guessing that it's simply a standard reply template.
