New Year's Eve Prague

Are there really 2 sets of fireworks in Prague? One on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day? Some websites mention both days and others only the New Year's Eve. Any recommendations on where to watch them with a 12-year-old?

I think the actual new years 12.00midnight ones are unofficial though there used to be some from a barge on the river but loads of unofficial ones going off all over the place.
Official ones on New Years day at 6.00pm , as far as I am aware they will be from Vitkov Hill and the best place to watch is from Letna park and I will be there this year to watch them. There is some mention of them using Letna Park for the fireworks but I hope not.Once I get confirmation from friends in Prague I will let you know.

Thanks. We are actually staying in the Letna Park area so that would be great if we didn't have to go across town!

whilst I was posting the last message my mate sent me this.
http://www.prague.eu/en/event/17370/new-year-s-fireworks. I think they will be based around the metronome area as that gives the best views over the city.It used to be an old Stalinist Monument and is used as a skateboard park these days.
I will however head to the Beer garden area, should get a half decent view of them from there, the beer garden is over near the Technical museum and you should see both these places marked on the map on that link.

I can confirm that the New years day fireworks will be from Letna Park around 6.00pm and will be based around the Metronome area as I thought.
anywhere along by the Old Town side of the river should give a great view. I will however be in Letna park beside the beer garden , should be far enough away from the fireworks to get a decent view.If anyone want a decent measure of single malt whisky I will be there with a large flask of it as will a friend or 3, though they may have Becherovka or Slivovice in their flasks.
