Hello - looking for advice on which Mucha Museum in Prague to visit to see the largest collection of works and drawings, and to get a greater sense of him as a person and artist. Do we go to the one in Savarin ( near Sephora) or the one out the back of this on a quiet street ?. Thanks in advance for your reply. C + E
I would go to both. They are both small and just a few minutes apart. My sister and I went to both in March. We enjoyed them both, but we both did favor the newer one. It seemed a little nicer and had a better giftshop.
Enjoy!!
If you love Mucha as I do, you should also visit the Cathedral of St Vitus, St Wenceslas and St Adalbert to see the beautiful large stained glass window he designed.
For the full Mucha experience, add in a tour of Municipal House, where he contributed to some of the interiors.
Currently I favour the one in the back street. If you go to the back of that museum and view the film section first I think it gives you a better understanding of the person. Collection sizes in both locations are about the same with unique items in both. As mentioned earlier if you do them both do the original (backstreet) one first.
