Month in Prague and month in Krakow next summer

We are planning on attending a family wedding in Poland next summer and are looking for an airbnb in Prague for a month before the wedding and in Krakow for a month after the wedding. We would like to be near attractions but in a quiet location, not night life people. Thanks!

And you have been to both and know that you can be happy in each for a month? Otherwise consider 10 days in each and a few other stops in between.

I agree with Mr. E. Unless you have been there before, I wouldn't assume a month would be worthwhile. For all its hype, Prague was one of my most disappointing destinations in all of Europe. I sure hope you love it but would exercise caution.

We are very contented, curious travelers and could easily spend a month in Prague and Budapest. Maybe we’d finally have time to take some day trips outside of these two great cities too. I’d love a month in each to explore and absorb. Both cities will be busy in the summer months but that wouldn’t stop me from renting the ideal apartment in any somewhat inner neighborhood.

Thank you for all of the replies. We are just asking for the best location in both places to rent a place to stay. We don't have a choice with the time of year because of the wedding but want to get the most out of our travels.

Starting May 1, we will be spending a month in Prague, using it as a base to explore the rest of the country as well, in addition to two quick Germany trips.

We are staying in the Praha 3-Zizkov neighborhood, just east of the main train station. It seems like a quiet area out of the tourist zone, but close to a tram stop and about a mile from the train station.

If you'd like the specific Airbnb lodging, send me a private message. It receives rave reviews.

Both of those cities are large enough that you will need streetcars or busses almost every day. Both countries are large enough that you can only visit a tiny portion of them by, say, one hour rail trips. I admit that we did a daytrip to Cesky Krumlov, which we enjoyed. But I wouldn't want to spend six hours traveling on multiple days.

In Prague I stayed in the High Heaven apartment. The location was perfect, right between the Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge. You can walk anywhere from there.

I loved both those cities and am very much a slow traveler (20 days in Rome last winter, 9+ days in each of the Baltic capitals where most folks stay only 1 to 3 days, etc.). For me, there are two issues in this situation: Would I enjoy a month in each place (yes, in that it would be more interesting than staying at home), and would I find being pinned down in one location too limiting when I thought of all the other interesting places I wanted to see in the country that were beyond reasonable day-tripping distance (also yes, definitely).

Particularly in Poland, a very large country, spending an entire month in one city way in the south will restrict the range of what you can see. Warsaw has many very interesting historic sites as well as excellent museums. It is a 3 hr. 40 min. train ride from Krakow. Warsaw's over twice the size of Krakow. Trying to see it via day-trips from Krakow would be a horrible waste of time and money.

In Krakow you might look for a place to stay just outside the Planty. I think most of the noisy nightlife is inside that ring--which isn't to say you couldn't possibly find a quiet place in the center.

Very good points, rethinking Poland to include more cities. We have plenty of time to plan this for summer of 2025. Thanks!

yeah, lotsa great exploration in Poland - but I think I would look to stay say 4 places at 7 days each. Krakow and close environs will take a full 7-days. Wroclaw is a great city. Staying in the south near the German border would allow you to add in a visit a great place like Görlitz.

Time is on your hands.

I stayed in Prague 9 nights although I did go to Český Krumlov two nights in the middle of the 9 nights, so I guess 7 nights in Prague. Like acraven, I usually stay in places longer than most people because I would rather stay one night too long than one night too short. Prague is a beautiful city, amazingly beautiful, but 7 nights was enough.
