May 8th is a state holiday here. It's also one of only 2 days per year (the other is October 28th) when the Upper House of Parliament (the Senate) opens its doors to the public. Opens 9am to 4pm with FREE entry and professional guides to explain the Wallenstein Palace, it's rooms and it's history. It's one of those rare moments in the city that people can easily miss so if you can include it in your trip it's worth it.

sounds really interesting ,i like when they do these things.several years ago I was invited to the Night of the Churches by a friend in Prague and visited many places that were not usually open to the public, fascinating night out, I think that is held sometime in May too
Hello mate, yes that's Noc Kostelu (Night of the churches). This year it's 25th May. I'm aiming to get to ST Cyril and ST Methodius as they open at 6pm and there's an hour in the crypt where you normally pay to enter. The webpage is here but no English. You'll need to use Google Translate https://www.nockostelu.cz/kostel/2107/
I went with Hana who used to be a regular on TA, had a great night, various entertainment on in each place including choirs, soloists and organ recitals, something totally different.
