Mass at St. Vitus Cathedral; Prague Symphony Orchestra; Local Dlouhaaa

We would like to attend mass at St. Vitus Cathedral on a Sunday morning. Looking on-line, times seem to vary. Anyone been there for a mass?

We would like to book tickets for the symphony at Smetana Hall of the Municipal House. Has anyone had this experience? Is it worth both the time and the money?

Also, Lokal Dlouhaaa Restaurant has been recommended on this site. Anyone second the idea? I've seen many comments at various places about being "ripped off" in restaurants. Any hints about avoiding this?

I have been to a concert at Smetana Hall, Very nice. Considering the most expensive tickets are $30, that is a pretty good deal in my book.

I would add that if you want to see an opera, the Estates Theater only has 590 seats and Mozart himself conducted the premier of Don Giovanni here. At $72 for a main floor seat, its the best deal going. They do have English supertitles.

Did you book on-line or have last-minute help from your hotel? Smetana Hall described intriguingly in somewhere in my research and so that's what caught my eye. When I tried going to Estates Theatre today, I had trouble navigating their site.

We just bought tickets at the door for Smetana Hall. There is a concert there pretty much every day.

We loved going to the concert on Czech Independence day last October! The symphony played Smetana and it was special. We bought tickets on our phone at the very last minute. It was neat to see how the Prague citizens dressed up, but didn't feel bad about not having diamonds and furs on! Great experience!

We were dressed very casually because we had been visiting the Prakov Rocks during the day and on our return to Prague we decided to get tickets. We went straight to concert hall and didn't change. No worries if you go casual, though. It's all good!

For the mass check the schedule at https://www.katedralasvatehovita.cz/en/religious-services/regular-religious-services the difference is the early mass is Czech and the later Mass is Latin. Smetana Hall is just a venue which means several different orchestras play there although the PSO and CNSO play there the most. Anybody playing here is top-notch, don't worry about the name on the ticket. Lokal? Great places, I use Dlouha and Karlin Square (Hamburk) regularly but you'll need a reservation at peak times otherwise turn up and ask to put your name on the clipboard at the bar so you get priority for the next unreserved available table. Hints on avoiding being ripped off at a restaurant? Pick any major tourist hotspot and walk at least two blocks away from it before looking for a place to eat.

I found the Prague Symphony at Smetana to be excellent, well worth time and money. As to the comments about dress, I wanted to look appropriate but took the advice that dress casual was fine and did not feel out of place. I saw several men dressed more appropriately for a football match! Bottom line, if you can get tickets to the good stuff, don't miss it.
