Are there lockers to store large bags for the day?

yes and I have used them many times. lockers are on the lower level left hand side as you face the platforms, the small ones are large enough to hold two decent sized bags and cost 80kc last time I used them the large ones you could almost sleep in.There is a machine to get change for the locker but the largest note they take is 200kc.
There is also a Left luggage area on the upper level right as you face the platforms right opposite the main toilets.last time I used it was about 3years ago and it was 60kc per bag for 24 hrs ,I left my bag there for 3 days and was still only charged 60kc.

Hi,

Prague central station (Praha hl n) is a big modern, comfortable station, 2 floors, well equipped, with all the necessary conveniences, signs are in 3 languages,

Fred I do agree with you, I remember the train station from many years ago and have seen it go through an amazing transformation over the years. Quite lovely now with a whole range of shops , really nice domestic and international ticket area, lots ofcafes ,restaurants, and even a supermarket. recently they have completely renovated the old entrance and booking hall which is quite stunning and well worth visiting that on its own, if you head out of the Old booking hall onto platform one you will see the memorial to Sir Nicholas Winton the man who arranged train loads of Jewish children to leave the country buy train just before WWII, a real hero.so not only is it a train station but a visitor attraction in itself.

@ unclegus....Before I did the day trip to Prague last month, I had not been to Praha hl n since July 1973 as a backpacker, a total transformation since then I'm sure you've witnessed. All the signs were in 3 languages then too, Cyrillic Russian, German, and Czech. Then one used German as the lingua franca at the station, if one couldn't speak Czech, now it's English. I got distracted this time by exploring the big station.

It is quite a change, I have seen it changing slowly over a number of years but I was first there in 1993 and I think it would have looked much the same as when you were fist there. but now what a difference.they have also extended the railway from Holesovice to Hlavni so all main trains routes now terminate or pass through the city centre.
