We are going to Prague at the beginning of October. I always knew my mother's family was from Bohemia (Czech Republic), but I just found that my fourth great-grandfather came to America from Litomysl, which I think is south of Prague. Does anyone know if that is a do-able day trip? Any tours that go from Prague to there? Thanks for any info -
I don't know about tours but it's only a couple of hours east of Prague...you can easily rent a car and do this. You'll be passing Kutna Hora on the way. If you leave early and make it a day trip you can see both!
Yes. It is doable as a day trip (albeit long one). But why not to do it as an overnight trip? Litomysl is worth it. There is a tour from Prague: you can find it on google under Czech UNESCO Heritage Tours. You will also find a lot of information about Litomysl on google.
Or you can do it on your own which is obviously cheaper.
It is easy and cheaper to do it by public transport than by a rental car. By train to Ceska Trebova, then by bus. Look for schedule here: http://www.idos.cz . You can switch it to English.
