Lintz or Cesky Krumlov

We will be on a river cruise in May and must decide between a shore excursion for either Lintz or Cesky Krumlov. Which would you recommend. Could possible go into Lintz after dinner on our own. We have never been to the Czech Republic and more than likely will not be returning. Thank you.

We haven’t visited Linz but spent a couple of days in Cesky Krumlov. To describe it as looking like it came out of a fairy tale wouldn’t be too big a stretch.

I agree with Denny. CK is a charming town and easily seen on an excursion. You can see a bit of Linz after dinner so you won’t miss it entirely.

I loved Cesky Krumlov and highly recommend a visit there. It's charming, walkable, with good restaurants, lots of atmosphere, beautiful scenery and lots to see and do. I don't think you can go wrong visiting CK.

@cgwyatt09, are you doing a Viking cruise? I am going on one in September and just signed up for the Cesky Krumlov shore excursion the day we are in Linz. I've wanted to see Cesky Krumlov for a while. If you remember, please report back and let us know how you liked it.

CK, yeah I guess ... prepare yourself for 1,000 street front amber jewellery shops.

It really wasn't on anyone's radar , but that's what a UNESCO World Heritage Plaque does for you.

A cousin lives in Linz, and I made a couple of brief visits years ago. It's one of those places that's a fine place to live, but there is little of interest to a traveler.

I'd choose CK just to visit the Baroque Theatre at the castle. We had a local guide give us an English tour.

Yeah, I don't remember any Steak and Eggs in CK ... Pork Knuckle is the calling.

I can comment on Linz since I have visited the Zentrum a number of times. Linz is a province capital, historically interesting and intriguing. You do have to expend some energy tracking down these historical sites. Have not been to CK.
