Konopiště Castle Reservations

My husband and I are traveling to the Czech Republic in early September. We plan to stop at Konopiště Castle on our way to Český Krumlov on Day 3 of our trip. We would like to take the Route 3 tour but the castle website states that reservations - by phone only - are needed for this tour.

How far in advance do I need to call?

We will be in Kutná Hora on Days 1-2 and I was hoping I could ask someone at the hotel to make the call for us. BUT...we probably won't arrive in Kutná Hora until early Sunday afternoon. The castle closes at 4:30 on Sunday and doesn't reopen until 10am on Tuesday, which is the day we want to take the tour. So...hoping the hotel could get the call made before closing on Sunday or right at 10am on Tuesday.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

been a few years since I did a tour at Konopiste but we were able to book a walk up tour though the actual tour times and what language they are in varies.

I also booked upon arrival, but a few years ago and it was probably in October. Your plan to call from the road is probably fine and matches the suggestion in Rick's book. A lot of people working in tourism in Czechia do speak English, at least enough to process the common requests at their job.

Thanks Unclegus and Laura!

I will stick to my plan of having the hotel call for us. And Laura, thanks for the info on the language...sometimes we are surprised in a good way (Croatia, BiH and Slovenia) or caught off guard (Spain and rural Germany).
