Is this a good Airbnb location?

I booked in Prague 7 based on some recommendations from this forum. The address is
Nad štolou 1510/1, 170 00 Praha 7-Holešovice, Czechia. We are good with walking and public transport , but not sure if staying in the city center is better considering we’ll be there in February?

February can be cold, and is not high season (although Prague gets busy whenever), so I would be inclined to stay in the city center, i.e. Prague 1. Public transportation looks average at best from the address you show (no metro, some tram lines), and you are separated from the rest of the city by a large park on an escarpment, so the walk could be bleak and strenuous.

area is fine and i stay not far away from there when in the city, but i would double check the actual address, from what I can see it is a gymnasium

Having been to Prague twice, and staying outside the first visit, I would recommend staying closer to the center. So many reasons why - walking to sights, being able to go back to your room before dinner or evening tour for a rest or to off drop packages, no worry about getting lost or turned around, no waiting for bus or tram, no need to take a cab or Uber.

According to Google it’s a 30-minute walk to Charles Bridge. Prague is cold during the winter so wear hand and feet warmers plus a hat. Make sure you invest in a warm winter coat.
If you have never been to Prague, consider sleeping in the old town instead, it is a fairy tale.

Not a great location for February. If you stick with Air BnB look for options in the streets called Jilska and Liliova, both in the Old Town.

Hello from Wisconsin,
We stay about two blocks away from your address. We loved this area. Cafe Letka is great. As is the The Farm. Oddly enough, the Museum of Technology was worth it. Peperoncino had very nice meals. Actually, this is not a heavy tourist area and to get anywhere you really will want to use the trams. Because this is not a normal tourist area of the city, English is a bit less used. Non-tourist means good prices for meals.

We have found that winter travel makes for short days as it gets dark early and temperatures drop. SO a normal day may be get up and have coffee at cafe Letka, or eat at the Farm. Take tram into the Old town, hang out all day, then return to Letna ( the name for this district you are staying in, AKA Prague 7) using a tram. (26 is I recall correctly) Have a meal in the neighborhood. Then walk into the large park that separates you from the castle district. same the next day but do the castle district.

Where you are staying is fairly easy to get to from the Airport. Bus 119 to its terminus. Get off, find tram 26 into your tram stop, Letenske Namesti

A warning to you. Your address is at the same altitude as the castle district. Old town is in the flood plain. So there is a steep slope you have to drop down to get to river level and then go across any bridge into Old Town. (Old = stare, town = Mesto). Getting home means getting up on the top of, let's call it a hill.

In February I would imagine that there are several hotels in the city center that wouldn’t be too expensive. We’ve stayed at 3 Kampa Island hotels, some more than once, in Prague and one on the east side of the square. On our 5 trips to Prague all but one have been during “cold” weather in November. I really wouldn’t want to be so far away from the center of the city in the winter. I’ve been aware of apartments to rent in the center also so I wouldn’t settle on something so far away when the days are short and the sidewalks and streets may be icy as we’ve encountered.

Just an addition to the post by wayner above. If you walk from the large park (Letna) to the small park (Chotkovy Sady) then you have to cross a footbridge to get over the road. Before the footbridge if you look to your right the apartment blocks are actually built on the footprint of the old ST Thomas Castle Wall bastion hence the strange shape and sunken areas around it. There are two others on the other side of the bridge. Interesting for me anyway!

OP here. Thanks for the help. My family decided to cancel the Praha 7 apartment and move closer to city center. We figured it would be nice to come back to the apartment between sightseeing to warm up.

Here is the address for the new apartment. Dlouhá 13, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

Any thoughts on this location?

Yes, this address is in the Staré Město (old town) and is where you want to be.

If you like an early breakfast then 2 minutes walk you'll find an American style cafe called Bakeshop opens from 7am and a French style cafe called Au Gourmand opens from 8am (8-30 at weekends). My favourite steak restaurant (La Casa Argentina) and my favourite fish restaurant (Blue Fjord) are both either in Dlouha or at the end of the street.

Are there any good (selection/price) grocery stores nearby, or would we have to get out of the city? We like to have snacks for the apartment and cook at least one meal per day to cut down on costs/calories.

Round the corner at U Obecniho Dvora 793/2 you've got a "Zabka" convenience store open 7 days 0600-2300. A 5 minute walk from your apt you'll find two shopping centres at Republic Square called Palladium and Kotva. Both have basement supermarkets.
