How to get tickets for Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral

My wife and I would like to visit in September, including all the sites within the Castle complex, the Picture Gallery, the Story of Prague Castle, and St. Vitus Cathedral, as well as the other sites. I would also like to take photographs for personal use.

I am a bit confused about which tickets to purchase and how to purchase the tickets, especially the Permanent Exhibitions ticket in addition to the Main Circuit ticket, and also a ticket for taking photographs.

Can anyone advise how I obtain these tickets? Should I purchase them online, and if so, how do I do that? Or, should I purchase the tickets that morning we are visiting?

Any advice that could be provided would be very helpful.

Thanks very much in advance.

We were just there in May. You buy your tickets on location. I suggest being there early, though, as it can get quite crowded. We went with both I and II tickets and saw most of the complex.

Keep in mind that the tickets are good for two days, so you don't have to rush through it.

I also recommend spending some time in the gardens and grassed walking paths on the north side of the complex. Much less crowded, and absolutely free.

Just to note. Only the "Main Ticket" can be bought in advance online and the castle requires that you print this ticket and bring it with you. All other tickets have to be bought at the ticket offices on-site. Tickets for Lobkowicz Palace are bought at the palace, not at the castle ticket offices. If you want an audioguide then you have to use the castle ticket office opposite the entry of ST Vitus in the 3rd courtyard. The castle no longer requires a photo licence to be bought but you will find that you are not allowed to use a tripod or use flash photography.

On another note for people who may check this thread for online purchase. The online ticket company seems to give you a ticket valid for entry at 9am. Right now you only have to select the day of entry but the system is allowing for some point in the future where you may have to select a time as well.
