How to get from Prague train station to hotel?

We are taking the bus from Munich to Prague. I understand it goes to the Prague train station. How do we get to our hotel from there? We haven't reserved a hotel yet. Do hotels provide transportation to and from the train station or do we need to take a taxi? What recommendations do you have for a taxi company? For a hotel? We are meeting friends who are driving in from Krakow, Poland so the hotel needs to have parking for them.

You might find a hotel that has a shuttle service - but in Prague, I would expect to take a taxi or, perhaps, public transportation. Prague has a good system of buses, trams, and a limited subway system.

If you want to see how to get to your hotel in Prague from anywhere, try Google Maps - it will give you public transit directions too. The ideal case - unless you want to spring for a taxi - would be finding a hotel in a desirable area but with only one tram or subway ride between them. You can find that out in Google Maps.

Try the website booking.com to look for hotels. Use the map feature. Although you could find a place near the train station, I might suggest staying in the old town or across the river (west side of the river) in Mala Strana, an area I like (castle and cathedral up on the steep hill above Mala Strana). Prague is a lovely, compact walking town. Each hotel in booking.com should give you at least parking options. Or there may be public lots near the hotel where your friends could park.

The bus may have other stops in Prague besides the train station. Sometimes one stop might be more convenient for a particular hotel than another.

depends where you book your hotel but certainly there are lots of hotels within easy walking distance of the main train station also a metro station inside the train station and several trams with a 2 minute walk of the station.
booking a transfer with a hotel is the best idea most will be able to offer this., the taxis at the train station do not have the best of reputations and under no circumstances accept the offer of any taxi driver that approaches you on the station concourse.
I never use taxis in the city when I am there apart from to and from the airport and only if I am with company and or have large bags to carry. The public transport system is so good and so cheap I really have no need for cabs.
come back when you have an idea of where you will be staying and I can try and help with ideas of how to get there.

this is the taxi company that has the best reputation in the city and has English speaking dispatchers.

We stayed here and walked to the train station: http://www.hotel-grandium.cz/en/
We might walk more than some people, but we walked to all our destinations from this hotel. Our son had stayed at this hotel on a business trip, and recommended it to us. Their breakfast was the best we had in our three week trip.

We are currently staying at the K&K Central Prague Hotel, at Hybernska 10. It is steps from the Old City, and we were able to walk (with quite a bit of luggage) from the main terminal. I am 60 and my husband is 65, so it is really very manageable.
