How Long to Stay in Cesky Krumlov

I just booked CK Shuttle from Prague to Cesky Krumlov in October. We are opting for the shared shuttle since it's cheaper. They are picking us up at 9AM at our hotel (they only have 3 pick up times per day--this was the earliest).

Trying to determine if we should book them for a return trip back to Prague, or if we should take the train back? I know there's only 1 direct train back to Prague a day, in the afternoon.

If we arrive in Cesky Krumlov around noon on a Tuesday, when do you think we should leave the next day in order to see a fair amount?

Thanks!

Wife and I had one day (arriving from Vienna about noon on CK shuttle) and one night there a couple of years ago, and that struck us as a very good amount of time for this beautiful town. We walked all over the place and had a great dinner at a place recommended by the desk person at Penzion Krumlov, where we stayed (highly recommend BTW). IMHO I think arriving at noon and leaving that same afternoon on the train would not do the place justice.

Thank you! Yes, we are staying over one night at the Hotel Dvorak. Arriving around noon on Tuesday and departing Wednesday. So you think 24 hrs is sufficient?

Thanks!

24 hours should be sufficient, but maybe you'd like another lunch alongside the river in C.K. or perhaps some rain could delay the action. Do you have a plan for the afternoon in Prague? In addition to the one direct train, there are hourly direct bus departures and neither one has to be booked in advance, so I would keep the plan flexible. Bus schedules for October are not posted yet, so see September.

Agree - one afternoon, evening, and part of the next day are plenty.

We stayed there 2 nights and felt like it was enough. It's nice after the crowds leave and you can walk through town peacefully. We took the Student Agency bus from CK to Prague and it was nice. The bus has bathroom and you get free hot chocolate. It took about 3 hours because it made a couple of stops and there was construction on the road. One drawback is that you have to walk to the bus station. Enjoy
