I am a first time visitor to Prague and I am trying to decide between two hotels -- the The Alchymist Grand Hotel which is located at Tržiště 19, 118 00 Malá Strana and the Julius hotel at Senovážné náměstí 3 . I was wondering what folks thought of the respective locations? Thanks so much!

I'm staying at the Julius next month. I wanted to be within walking distance of the train station as I will be arriving and departing via train.

The fundamental choice is which side of the river you prefer to stay on. Look at a map and note how far away the Alchymist is from the main square. How far would you have to walk to get to the sites that you intend to visit during your stay?
We stayed on the main square side of the river - Hotel Hastal - and found it easy to reach most of the sites we were interested in - it was a bit more effort to get to the castle.
And I recall reading that the castle side of the river was a nice place to stay - perhaps less touristy.
