Hotels/areas in Prague with secure parking

Looking for recommendations for places to stay in Old Town Prague with secure parking. I have read that there is a high rate of rental cars being stolen in Prague and would of course like to avoid that.

OR perhaps there is better area to stay outside of the Old Town with secure parking?

OR is it best to park the car outside of the city for a couple of days and take public transportation in?

We will staying for 2 nights in Prague in July.
Thank You

Trying to figure out why you would want a car in Prague. What is your over all plan? Many rental agencies will not even allow you to drive into the Czech Republic.

We enjoy having a rental car while traveling in Europe due the freedom to explore off the beaten path areas. We have a rental car booked, which is supposed to include "cross-border driving." We will check to see if that includes the Czech Republic.

Do you know why many rental companies do not allow rental cars there like you mentioned?
I am wondering if we should change our itinerary and visit Prague at another time on a tour or using train travel only.

Thanks

That says something.

Freedom is not free, as the saying goes. Freedom to sit in traffic. Freedom to hunt for expensive parking. Freedom to pay for tolls and vignettes. Freedom to be on guard for speed cameras and ZTL's.

I rent cars in Europe to get to places public transport can't get me easily. But to each their own.

That is specifically what I am asking -are there secure parking areas on the outskirts of Prague that we could park the car, then take a train (or some type of public transportation) into the Old Town area and back out again to return to the parked car.

Hi shillpaw. About 6 years ago we picked up a rental car in Zurich and drove thru Germany to Prague, stayed 4 nights including a day trip and hike in a nearby rural town, then on to Czeky Krumlov, then Austria before returning car in Geneva. Worked great. Easy driving and we felt very safe. Found a hotel with free parking just outside of city center right on the tram line; can't remember the name. 10-15 minutes on the tram and we were in old town or wherever in Prague we wanted to go. There are definitely places just outside of city center w/ parking. Enjoy!

Love to know where you read this. Theft is not the problem or at least it's not as bad as it was 10 years ago. It's damage to the car i.e. side panel damage caused by other doors opening, scratches to paint, tyre side-wall damage caused by uneven kerbs. Even in hotel secure parking you'll have this issue. So the trick is to make sure the insurance on the rental car covers as much potential damage etc. Car Hire companies often exclude coverage for windscreens and tyres.

https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/vienna-house/prague-czech-republic/vienna-house-diplomat-prague/overview i have used this hotel several times, on the main road out of the city and towards the airport but close enough to the city center by tram or metro which are just steps away. They charge for parking but I have no idea of the costs. The hotel has been totally renovated over the last few years. numerous bars and restaurants within a short walk but they also have on site places to eat or drink in.
