Hotel recommendations for Prague first-time visitors

Hello! My mom (63yo) and I (40yo female) will be staying in Prague for 3 nights in early May. What hotels and/or area would you recommend for first-time visitors? I do better at walking long distances than she does, so I was considering staying in the Old Town area. Thanks for any recommendations!

we stayed at the Hotel Leon D'Oro in January 2020 and really liked the hotel. It was very central, but on a side street so no hustle and bustle right there. The room we had was quite spacious and I would stay there again, FWIW.

We stayed at Rick’s recommended Hotel Hastal. Quiet street, short walk to the old town center, nice local restaurant next door (Lokal), lovely breakfast, and elevator. Very important for your mom.

Hotel Residence Agnes is terrific! The staff is fabulous, and can not do enough to ensure that their guests have a memorable stay.
I believe it is about an 8 minute walk to Old Town. Frank, who is the owner, drove us to Prague Castle on the day we visited that.

Hotel General across from the Staropramen brewery was a fine place for my wife and I to base our several days in Prague. Convenient to trams, very comfortable and a terrific breakfast. It does seem to have gotten a bit expensive, though.

Any more thoughts on hotels. Very pricey already in May and not much available. Is there a special holiday in May?

Second vote for Hotel Residence Agnes. Absolutely the best customer service I have ever had when traveling. Picked us up at train station. Took us to and from the Train Station for 2 day trips and Prague Castle.

Staying in the Old Town area is a fantastic choice for first-time visitors. The charm of the cobblestone streets and proximity to major attractions make it ideal. I remember when I stayed in Prague with my family, we found this lovely hotel near the Old Town Square. It was convenient for meandering around the city and offered easy access to all the must-see sights. If you're still searching for accommodation, you might want to check out https://www.oldroyalpost.com/en/homepage-en/. They have a reputation for providing a cozy stay with a touch of history, perfect for immersing yourselves in Prague's rich culture.

We stayed at Hotel Adria in the old town during a visit last month. It was well located, close to lots of restaurants and the Musek metro stop was about a two minutes walk away (on crutches). Staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. The bathtub was weirdly high up, so if there are mobility concerns, I would ask for a shower room.

May 1st and 8th are State Holidays here plus you probably have a couple of conferences. Try the Metropolitan https://www.hotelmetropolitan.cz/en/ which is opposite the Agnes. Metropolitan is also a 4 star but it's a modern building with more rooms and amenities so less personal than the Agnes. Great rooftop bar and views. 5 minutes walk to the Old Town Square. Or try Clarion Old Town https://www.clarionhotelpragueoldtown.com/en/. Again a bigger hotel on the edge of the Old Town, 90 rooms and great views from their rooftop terrace. Max 10 minute walk to the Old Town Square, 5 mins from Republic Square.
