Assuming you are referring to Prague here, you might look at the Green Garland Inn, a couple blocks off the town square, comfortable, affordable.

Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske namesti) is usually considered main square in Prague. You probably mean Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti). In that case I recommend hotel U Prince. On the roof there is a terrace with gorgeous views. In the cellar there is a bar - allegedly among 10 best in the world. We stayed there last June and were very pleasantly impressed.

I really loved my stay at the Iron Gate Hotel on Michalska, steps from a passage leading to the main square. I was upgraded to a charming suite and the breakfast was excellent, staff very helpful.
