Hotel Dominican vs Hotel Hastal in Prague

I will be visiting Prague soon for the first time, solo because my partner is not able to make it. Both Hotel Dominican and Hastal seem like good choices but does anyone have anything more to recommend for or against each ? Your perspective would be much appreciated.

Two different places. Location wise, both are central but the Dominican is right in the centre. Some people like the fact that the Hastal is a short walk from the busy centre. Architecturally, Dominican is a converted cloisters where many rooms have original features whereas Hastal is a 19th Century townhouse. Hastal is family-run so I think has a more personal touch. No problem with either.

We only stayed at Hotel Hastal a few years ago. We loved it and would stay there again. Short walk to the city center but quiet.

We also stayed at Hastal - pre-Covid - it was an excellent choice - good location [quiet], excellent breakfast, attentive staff. CK Shuttle was able to drive up to the front door to pick us up for our transfer to Cesky Krumlov.

It's a couple blocks from the main square, and also to the tram going to the train station, Municipal House, etc.

If you're doing research for your time there, I recommend LivingPrague.com as a great resource for the city. The walking tours offered by Jason are excellent as well.

Thank you all for such helpful perspectives. I did sort of favor Hastal for the RS comment about it being in a quiet square. But yesterday I had to shift my dates by a day and Hastal was able to accommodate that easily while the Dominican required a wait through the weekend to confirm with the reservations office as well as it becoming a whole new booking. That’s not uncommon but the decision was made for me in essence by that difference. Now I am very much looking forward to my stay !

I've traveled 23 countries so far and Hotel Hastal may be my favorite hotel. It is in a fabulous location, is elegantly charming, the family ownership takes your service personally, and their breakfast spread is impressive. This 300 year old building is across the street from a 13th century monastery. I could not believe the value for money that this quiet hotel offered. Guests are welcomed at the front desk with wine and coffee. Our room was quiet and comfortable with decor right out of the Art Nouveau era. Their dinner recommendation was a short walk away and an absolutely fabulous restaurant called Food Lab. Hotel Hastal was the perfect place to conclude our honeymoon trip across Europe. We hope to return to Prague one day, and I know where we'll stay.
