Help Needed with Tickets on Czech Railways

Has anyone purchased tickets on www.cd.cz lately? Earlier today I attempted to buy tickets. All went well until I tried to pay. The site would not accept any of my credit cards. I used 3 different VISA'a and 1 MC. By the time I had entered the credit card's 12th number I got an error message for all cards that it was not a valid card number. The cards were rejected before I could enter all 16 digits. These are all credit cards that are used frequently and all but the MC have been used in Europe. I have no idea what is going wrong. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like they may require 3D security.
Have you tried downloading their app and buying tickets through the app?

The best deals for train tickets on the Czech National Railway’s trains can only be found on the website of “Cesky Drahy,” which the railway has shortened to “CD”. I was amazed that the 6-7 hour train ride from Prague to Budapest was only $25 when I booked with them in 2021. For tickets from Prague to Olomouc, Berlin, Krakow or Vienna. there are even more deals.
CD begins selling domestic tickets 60 days in advance— for international trains its 90 days. That means if you’re trying to buy domestic tickets for dates after June 6, you’re too early and you’ll want to re-visit www.cd.cz

I found that creating an account and logging in only took a few minutes and streamlined ticket orders.

I also downloaded the Cesky Drahy app, and then used it to purchase my tickets. The app worked just fine a couple weeks ago, and I had no problems using my card . Could their computer be down ?
Hope it works for you. Have a wonderful trip.

I've noticed in the past that European train companies sometimes have glitches for a day or two. Unless you have to buy the tickets today I would wait a day. It seemed to work with the RENFE website.

Also double check with your credit card company that they allowed the payments. Sometimes for certain countries, companies can decline payments.

The OP who raised the Comgate/GooglePay question also had card problems. I looked on the local news and nothing but its a bit of a coincidence.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried again this morning including using the app and no luck - my credit card was rejected by the 12th number. I had noticed yesterday that GooglePay was a payment option so set up GooglePay last night. I was able to purchase one set of tickets using GooglePay this morning. Now just need to purchase the second set.

Jason - I did notice the Comgate/GooglePay issue and thought it also an odd coincidence. Maybe just something going on with their computer?

I bought tickets on that site a few days ago. They allowed AmEx but not my VISA.

Site still isn’t working but now the error message is generated before even getting to point of payment. I downloaded the app and get the same error message, ugh.
