We had a great experience using the entrance via the Queen Anne's Summer Palace. Short queue lines at the security entrance and a great photo exhibition of the fall of communism in 1989.
Thanks so much Jim! We visited Prague a few years ago but taking our daughter back in early December. The first thing on her wish list is the Prague Castle, so we will use your suggestion and see if it works better for us this time around. I appreciate your advice!

Hi from Wisconsin,
I don't know the Queen's entrance. Maybe it was what we used. We took a tram to the north side entrance. I don't even remember entering. It was smooth.

wayner - we are probably talking similar entry direction from the north.
lynette - enjoy, the Photo exhibition may be over at the end of November, but we walked through the checkpoint at the grounds and then on a path straight over to the castle

this will give you a map of the various entrances, personally I tend to use entrance 2 from Pohorelec, nice easy walk down from the tram passing some wonderful buildings ,never had to wait to get through security there
Unclegus, thank you. This map shows the entrance 5, the one I mentioned.
The exhibition on the Berlin Wall runs through Nov 30.

Remember that the Queen Anne's Palace (Imperial Gardens) entrance is usually only April to October. This year it stays open to the end of November for the above mentioned exhibition. It's NOT always open. Take the tram 22 or 23 and when you get to the stop "Kralovsky Letohradek" look out the left side of the tram and see if the gate is open. If not then go one more stop. Also note that there is a WC at the Imperial Garden entry.
Many thanks Jason. That will be very helpful for us in December!
