I have been to Prague three times and have bought jewelry for family members and myself. There are so many, many shops that sell garnet that it is really overwhelming. I would have an idea about what you are looking for and a clear budget. Salespeople were very helpful. Be sure to get authorization information guarantee that is real garnet. Garnets , in my opinion, make a wonderful souvenir. I have received many compliments on the pendant I bought for myself.

My husband loved the beer. His favorite was and is Pilsers.

There are three types of Garnet here, Indian, African and Czech. Czech garnet is quite small so you're looking at buying something with multiple small stones. If a jewellery shop says a piece of garnet bigger than 5mm is Czech then they are being untruthful. My wife has a January birthday (been buying garnet for some time now!!!). Best beer, Kozel, just look for any Pilsner Urquell bar with a green sign.

I can't help with the garnet question, but I have an opinion about the beer. I'm not really a beer drinker at home (Colorado). But I really enjoyed the beer in Prague and especially Krakow on the Eastern Europe trip. In Krakow around the town square there are many little restaurant/cafe/ bars. Each one has a different umbrella out for the outside tables.
Each umbrella has a logo for their beer. There was one time that hubby and I joked that we might have to sit at neighboring cafes to each get our favorite. He caved and we went to mine. Mostly because he said he had never seen me drink beer very much.

Bottom line is you're going to love this tour!! Out of 7 RS tours it's at the top of our list. A lot due to our guide being Etelka. She grew up in Hungary and teaches school. I think she speaks 5 languages and is very personable!! I would love to travel with her again. This trip was great, it was so much fun to go to cities and small villages. Also, changing countries and landscapes made this a great trip. It is one of the ones that hubby and I have talked about taking again!

Have a Great Trip!
