Frymburk, information and travel info

Hello,

We want to spend a night in Frymburk which is in Southeastern Czech. Republic on the Lipno Reservoir. We will be coming from Vienna. Any help on how to get there via public transportation would be greatly appreciated. It is a bit remote but my Father was there upon learning that WW2 had ended and it would mean a great deal to me to be able to retrace his steps. thank you for any help you can provide.

bgardner - The best way to get to Frymburk from Vienna is to take a bus from Vienna to Cesky Krumlov. Then, from Cesky Krumlov take a taxi to the town which is around a 20 minutes ride. I don't see any bus or train line that connects you directly to Frymburk from Vienna.

The closest railway station is in Lipno nad Vltavou, about 10 km from Frymburk. The train takes about 5:20 from Vienna.

(By the way, the name of the country is the Czech Republic or Czechia, not Czech.)

This journey needs to be broken into two parts - Vienna to Cesky Krumlov, and then Cesky Krumlov to Frymburk.

There is no easy rail or bus connection between Cesky Krumlov and Vienna, so the best way to go is by shared shuttle. These tend to cost about 30 euro per person, and the journey time is about 2 hours and 30 minutes. There are lots of competing companies to choose from.

Once you get to Frymburk, you can take a taxi (as a previous contributor has suggested) or you can hop on a public bus. A local bus route from Cesky Krumlov bus station to Frymbuk takes about 40 minutes and costs 40czk (less than 1.50 euro). You can check all types of Czech public transport on the IDOS website.

I hope that this helps. Good luck!
