My art school child and their friend will be spending July in Europe this summer and want to explore local hand-made textiles. Any recommendations for museums, exhibits, festivals, classes, etc for the Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, and Greece?
They should have some success by Googling ethnographic museum [country or geographical area]. There should be at least one such place in each of the capital cities, I would think. If they're interested in contemporary textiles and fiber work, I'd also Google for fiber exhibition and textile exhibition; I've encountered some very interesting fiber-related special exhibitions in art museums.
In Prague they will definitely want to go to the Museum of Decorative Arts as that has a collection of handmade textile items but they should contact them at https://www.upm.cz/ to ask about places where they may go to see items being made. If they are driving then also consider https://www.muzeumkroju.cz/en/contact (an hour from Prague) which has an excellent collection of traditional arts and techniques. Again contact to possibly find alternatives.
Thanks for the suggestions!
