First time to Prague

So in the planning stages. May visit over Christmas time this year. Currently looking for a good area to search for an air bnb. Something close to food and Christmas markets. Will be there 5 days before heading to Budapest.

We rented from friends but stayed near the National museum/ university area very close to old town and it was a perfect location. Prague is very walkable. I have been to over 50 countries and one of my all time favorite cities.

The name of Prague’s old town is Staré Mĕsto and is by far the best place to be. If you get too far out, you’ll need to ride the tram to get around.

Hi,
I want to reply about having to ride the Trams. What a pleasure. While it is nice to be 'right next to the action', a ride on a tram gives you a chance to quickly view neighborhoods. while you give your feet a break. Our last trip there we stayed in Prague 7. It is north across the Vltava River from stare mesto, old town. An easy ride to where ever you want to get to. Plenty of nice restaurants with lower than the normal tourist prices. Same goes for the apartments in the area. Get a short distance away from the center and prices fall nicely.

We were in Prague for 6 nights in Sept. 2019. Although we did not stay in an air BnB we did stay at Hotel Hastal in Old Town. We felt it was the best location to restaurants & sites. I can’t comment on any BnB’s in the area. If you are looking for a tour guide I highly recommend Jason from www.livingpraguetours.com. We took “Prague City Walking Tour.” Jason is knowledgeable, engaging and helpful. He may have a recommendation for an air BnB? https://www.hotelhastalprague.com/en/
