We are arriving in Prague the morning of July 11 and plan to depart via overnight train to Krakow late on the night of 17th. So 5 1/2 days in Prague and 4 days in Krakow. Flights to and from the US are set, but not all of the itinerary.
My adult daughter wants to experience at least one or two days seeing some of the countryside, or at least outside Prague. RS suggests Kutna Hora as a day trip, particularly if you can't get an overnight at Cesky Kurmiov.. I do not want to rent a car and therefore want to use train or bus. I think there is only one train from Prague to Cesky Kurmlov that really works.
There are bus day tours that might be compromise, albeit with a long bus ride.
I know this sounds overly complicated, but I could also shave a day off Krakow too, but that itinerary (Auschwitz, Salt Mines, Schindler Factory, and general walking tours with sites) seems to call for 4 days.
I am thinking I cannot go wrong with any of these choices, but welcome feedback. There is plenty to do in Prague, but just thinking.
