There is a topic about your favorite festival in Europe (under General Europe). For me it is this one. I put it here for you who are right now in Czech Republic and want to go Back Door Europe. Not many Ricknicks there. It's on September 9th and 10th this year. It is a traditional folklife festival and wine goes with it. It's probably the largest festival of its kind in the Czech Republic. Five thousand people in folk costumes marching with their folk music bands. The parade is Saturday morning. Each village in the county U.H. have its own representation. Those interested could come on Friday and kill the evening time by tasting wine in a huge tent on the main square. Music is making tasting more merry. After the parade programs are all over the town. There are even country and western bands on the cruise ships on the river. Visit the Information Center next to the church on the main square. I decided to put this information here. Several years ago I was having breakfast in hotel Grand Best Western in UH and it was on Monday right after the festival. I was approached by an American couple asking me what to see there and around. They were very unhappy upon learning what they just missed. They did not know. It is not advertised very much. To spare you the same disappointment I wrote this just in case.
