We have a couple evening concerts in Prague planned - they end about 9pm. Wondering if we should schedule dinner before or after.
I would go earlier, personally I find many places close their kitchen by 10.00pm maybe earlier
So the evening concerts start between 6pm and 7pm (?) and it will take you 30 minutes to get there and you want to be there 15 minutes early so if you eat first you will want to be at the restaurant at 4:15 and 5:15. Then the catsup squeezed out of the burger and on to the front of the sports coat / shirt / dress / whatever? Gotta run home and change .... A late lunch and a later dinner works for some.
😄 Actually the concert starts at 8 and is a 5-min. walk from our hotel. But I think we'll eat first ... if we've finished all our daytime sightseeing.
where are you staying or where are you going for the concert, I may be able to suggest places nearby. so many places to eat in the city , fast food, casual dining, mid range and higher end places. I tend to eat in Hospodas, (pubs that serve food) or mid range places, occasionally Italian or pizza places and have eaten in a very good Japanese place. I don't eat in chain fast food places regardless of where i am in the world.
Thanks! We're staying at the Maximilian and the concerts are at the Spanish Synagogue. I like to eat the food of the country I'm visiting when possible.
round the corner from the hotel is this place https://ladegustation.ambi.cz/ one of the top rated restaurants in the city and very expensive ,you would have to book well in advance for a table, never been in and probably a good bit out of my price range.
Lokal have many places in the city and this is just a couple of minutes walk from your hotel. https://lokal-dlouha.ambi.cz/en/, quite modern inside but serves good Czech style food and great beer.
This place is just opposite the Spanish synagogue. https://vkolkovne.kolkovna.cz/ , i have not been in this one but have visited their place at the Exhibition center in Holesovice many times as recently as 6 weeks ago. great Czech food and excellent beer, good size portions too.
This place is a bit different but a 10 minute walk from the Spanish synagogue. https://www.lodpivovar.cz/ it is a brewery/ restaurant on a boat, really different , it is okay it does not go sailing, they make their own beer and the food though limited in choice is excellent, best duck and cabbage i have ever had in the city, been there many times over the last 10 years since it opened
this gives you a few ideas but there are lots of other places to have a meal or drinks, so have a look around the area and decide yourself. have a great time.
THey seem to eat early around 6 or 7pm and many restos are closing at 9pm so good to eat heavy before the concert and perhaps just trodolo after. some stalls still sell it around 10 to 11.
