DB Train from Munich to Prague on Sept. 4th

Hello -

6 of us are traveling from Munich to Prague on September 4th. I wanted to book DB RE25 leaving Munich at 8:44am arriving 14:21pm. The website still shows "no price information available". I switched dates to next week and it still wasn't showing an option to purchase. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or if I should switch how I book the ticket. I read on this forum to book directly through DB. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It is too early to purchase.

Also, consider looking at the Czech train site for tickets. In my experience the prices have been lower than DB, and seat reservations are free.

Any idea how far in advance tickets are available to purchase? I did check the Czech train and it maps to EC355, so I will double check the prices and see when I can book. Other guidance is book the right side of train and 2nd class is fine. Agree? THANKS!

it's not too early to book, I'm looking at the full days worth of trains for September 4th on bahn.com and they are all offering the close to half price "Prag Special" tickets....

......just had a thought, changed my one person request to 6 and it gives the answer you got! Had another thought and found that 6 counts as a group with special discounts and there is a group purchase page

https://int.bahn.de/en/offers/saver-fare-flexible-fare/group-saver-fare-Europe

  • but it still fails on this route, possibly because DB don't set the fare.

The answer is to use the normal page and book as two smaller groups. And bear in mind Fridays can sell out...

RE25 is the German route number, 355 is the train number.

I see that the Sept 4, 8:44 am train is available for sale on the DB website at 55 EUR per person, but for a maximum of 5 people. Making it 6 people is what generates the "No price information available" message. Further, they do not sell seat reservations for this train. I understand that you can get seat reservation from the Czech site, so I would focus on that site.

Sorry - more questions as you have been so helpful. The Czech site allows for booking 2 months in advance. Is it better to book DB now without a seat or wait and get a reservation but risk it being sold out? I don't know how often a Friday train in Sept. would sell out so am leaning towards securing our place on the train with DB and just figuring out seats the day of. Agree?

I don't think the train selling out 2 months in advance is very likely. There are trains every 2 hours beginning at 4:44 am until 4:44 pm, every day. That is 7 trains each day. And buying a ticket 3 months in advance does not guarantee a seat. If there are no seats, you stand until seats become available. That is the way regional trains work. So the train will never "sell out".

I use Cesky Drahy app a great deal as I spend a lot of time in the czech republic. Looked at your dates and as Sam said there are trains every 2 hours, travel time is about 5hours 37 minutes, says they are "not yet available for purchase". As I said I have used them a lot but not from or to Munich. Usually seats will be automatically allocated but you can go into the system and book specific seats for a small fee ,whether this applies to trains from Munich I am not sure but would think it is possible
